We're in Cambria

Hello All!

We arrived at Moon Stone Beach this afternoon at about 4:00pm.  Sparta spent most of the day pouting in the back seat because she could not understand why we were driving and driving after spending the night in a strange place.  Last night we stayed in Flagstaff at the Drury Inn just outside the Northern Arizona University.  We walked the campus with Sparta . . . many students stopped to coo and pat her, but she remained unsettled in our room . . .she roamed all night long.

Despite Sparta's opinion of our travels, we are having a good trip.  Today we drove through beautiful areas of mountains, Joshua trees, and vineyards.  I particularly enjoyed the road that led to Paso Robles as it looks much like it did 33 years ago when I used to drive it except now there are lots of vineyards where used to be just open space.  We didn't drive far enough on that road to see if the monks still live and serve soups and bread to visitors . . . something I think would have been fun to discover, but we needed to get Sparta to the coast during daylight so she could at least romp on the beach.

When we arrived in Cambria we checked into our inn and immediately drove to the dog beach.  We set Sparta free and walked toward the end of the beach where we met another person, Kitty, and her dog, Travis.  Amazingly she and Travis live in Santa Fe, NM.  What are the odds of meeting up with a NM neighbor on a beach in CA . . .Sparta and Travis romped for quite a while in and out of the water.

We are back in our room now after watching the sun set while enjoying wine on the lawn at our inn then eating oysters on the half shell and fried fish platters . . . all good so far . . .will try to add some pictures when we can.
